Back to Reality~

We made it home from vacation in one piece.  We spent 3 days in Daytona, 3 days at Disney, and then another 3 back in Daytona.  Did I mention we drove?  15 hours in a car sucks no matter what, but add in a 4 and 5-year-old and who knows what will happen.  But amazingly, the kids were great.
Disney was a blast.  Denny met the Power Rangers and Grace met the Princesses.  So it is true that dreams really do come true at Disney.
Daytona was great too.  We stayed with Bob's dad who has a beautiful home with a beautiful pool. We spent our days swimming in the pool and at the beach, and the nights we played cards and drank lots of beer.
Now that we are back home and I have my Mac back, I will try to get back to blogging more regularly.
Here's some pics from the trip.  I'll put a lot more on my FB page.

Spring Break~

We made it through Spring Break week and I think we wore the kiddos out.  The past day and a half, all my son wants to do is sleep.  Here is a picture of him from Friday, where he spent majority of the day in bed. I have some pictures of myself on Spring Break years ago looking quite the same, but I was passed out in the sand, not in a bed.  Oh, and I may have had less clothes on.  But let's save those stories for another day, this is a family blog people.

Then there is my Grace, who rarely naps anymore.  She passed out on the couch for hours and that is a rarity.  I guess I could have been productive while the kids gave me a break, but I must admit, I was tore up from the floor up also.  So I tossed my "to do" list aside and did what I never get to do anymore:  nothing...

Hail and Farewell~

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind.   Not in a bad way.  Not in a good way.  Just in a way.  Just life.
Easter was wonderful, filled with lots of family time and sugar overload.
About a week before Easter, a good friend of ours lost his father to cancer.  It brought back painful memories of losing my Dad to the same brutal disease.  We attended the wake and funeral, and while doing so we saw friends from the Army that we have not seen in years.
We all had so much fun while stationed at Fort Drum,  living day to day as Officers and Officers Wives.  Hail and Farewells.  Tearing up the town, Watertown! Deployments to Bosnia.
So every bit of it was bitter sweet.  It was great seeing old friends but unfortunate as to why we were together again.  We always talk about having a Watertown/Fort Drum reunion, and that's going to be something I am going to start working on. So get ready Watertown, NY....we are coming back!

Getting the Swing of Things~

It's been a bit over five years since I have taken on the role of Mom.   I think I am finally getting the hang of it.  Now when I  hear "Hey Mom," I actually turn my head and respond.  Maybe five years seems like a long time, but I never said I was bright, just good looking.
When I made the decision to quit my job as a Marketing and PR Goddess and take on the role of SAHM, I had no clue what I was getting into.  The decision, which is obviously a biggie, was not thought out one bit.
It was a Friday and I was stuck in traffic on my way home from work.  I called my Hubby and said, "Would you be cool with me not going back to work on Monday?"  It took him by surprise, but he said if that's what I really wanted then go for it.  And the decision was made.  I know it was a totally unprofessional way to quit a job, but the company I was working for had been treating me unprofessionally ever since I returned from my Maternity leave.  Call it Karma if you will, but they deserved my no-notice quit and the nasty email I sent to my boss.
Lots of you know I had a hard time at first.  I never saw myself as a SAHM and trading in the suits for the sweat pants was a tough transition for me.  But I am so thankful that things worked out the way they did.
So now that my oldest is going to be entering Kindergarten and my youngest is going into Preschool, and I wonder where the time has gone.  It is so cliche to say, but they really do grow up fast.

Loving Grace~

This little girl of mine has a big heart.  Here she is praying for the people we love who are in heaven.   While Denny is peeing on walls, Grace is kneeling down in prayer next to our fire pit.

P is for Park~

Driving to the park in style

We were only about 10 minutes into playing at the park when Denny said he had to pee.  Bob said he was going to walk Denny back home then come back.
Um, why?  Go over by the building or back by a bush or tree.  It's a huge park, the options are endless.
So while Grace and I ran around the boys went to take care of business.  After Denny relieved himself, he was pulling up his drawers and said to my husband, "Don't tell Mama about this."
If he only knew.
