Flowers From a Boy~

I have gotten flowers on three separate occasions this week. And with those flowers came a kiss.

My sweet, loving 4-year-old boy has been picking dandelions for me every morning. There really is nothing better. The look on his face when he says "Momma, I have something for you," then hands me the smashed dandelions. My little guy, who is turning into a big guy more and more each day. He makes me crave another child, but I know that's not going to happen. My family is complete. Sometimes it's just hard watching them grow.

P is for Park~

Driving to the park in style

We were only about 10 minutes into playing at the park when Denny said he had to pee.  Bob said he was going to walk Denny back home then come back.
Um, why?  Go over by the building or back by a bush or tree.  It's a huge park, the options are endless.
So while Grace and I ran around the boys went to take care of business.  After Denny relieved himself, he was pulling up his drawers and said to my husband, "Don't tell Mama about this."
If he only knew.

Buzzin'~

I have always heard stories about kids cutting other kids hair.  Never in a million years did I think my Grace would be one of the "cutters."  Denny, yes, but not Grace.  Grace is the type of kid who thinks way to much about the consequences.  Or so I thought.  Saturday afternoon was going great until G took a pair of scissors to D's head.  The results:

So we cleaned D all up with the clippers.  I think he is as handsome as ever with his new do.  He won't stop rubbing his head and asking when his hair is going to grow back.  The little man seems pissed at Bob and I, and not at his sister who butchered his hair in the first place.  I just pray that D isn't planning on paybacks.

This is what Uncle's are for~

Tonight marked a first in our home.  Bob and I were so proud, we shed tears of joy.   Of course I need to share it with my blogger buds.  I will endure the shit I get from my son when he is older and realizes that I shared this picture on the Internet.
Tonight, Denny got his first wedgie from his Uncle Timmy.  It won't be his last.

We promise no kids were injured.  Look at the smile below on Denny's face as he dug the wedge out.

WIPE OUT~

This sweet boy can be a bit disgusting some times

Gross but true....
Saturday afternoon Bob was taking a nap with Denny in D's race car bed.
While Bob was falling asleep, Denny started scratching Bob's back.  Or so Bob thought.
With sneaky eyes, Bob looked back at his darling son and realized that Denny was NOT scratching his back.
He was picking his nose and wiping boogs on him.
Boys will be boys.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOYS & GIRLS~

This pretty much sums it up.
Denny the wild man and Grace as careful as can be.
Sorry I had to link to you tube, but blogger wouldn't upload it.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE WHY I SHOULD BE NOMINATED FOR MOM OF THE YEAR~

Denny spent last Wednesday morning at my Mom's while I worked at Grace's school.
When I walked into my Mom's to pick Denny up, she pulled my into the corner with a shit eating grin on her face.
What's up I asked?

Apparently while Denny was with my Mom, the word "hate" came up.  Denny then said that it's a bad word, so no one should ever say it.

Instead of leaving it there, my Mom had to ask my 3-year-old son what are some other bad words?

Darling little dude said, "Stupid, Mean, Hate & Fuck it."

IF WISHES CAME TRUE~

Saturday night Bob took Grace to a birthday party and I hung out with the boy.

My Dad's ashes are in an urn sitting in our living room.
Neither of my kids ever had the chance to meet my Dad, so they only know him through stories, photos and "the urn."
Denny went over to the urn and kissed it and said I love you Grandpa Dennis.  Then he looked at me and said "Mom, I really want him to come out of there."

Me too bud, me too.

I'M THE MAN~

Here is my boy Denny working on his scholarship to Ohio State.  Hey Couch Tressel, we are ready for you!  We've been working hard all weekend.  He is the man~

INDIVIDUALITY~

You all saw in a previous post how my man Denny has been rollin' around the burbs lately.  Well, today he has began another way to roll, this time in Bob's swimming goggles.  Everywhere we went he had them on, inside or out, and would not take them off until we arrived home.
Yes, people stare, laugh, point and comment, and I am pretty sure the kids at Grace's school think Denny is a source of daily entertainment.  Whatever works to keep them happy, keeps me happy.

JUST IN CASE YOU NEED A LAUGH~

If you need an extra little something this hump day, here is D in his new favorite outfit.  I call it an outfit, rather than costume,  because for the past three days D has worn it everywhere we go.  It was given to him by his best buddy Tyler.  Thanks again Ty!

BIRTHDAY BOY

Today my darling Dennis Patrick turns 3.

Terrible threes, I am ready for you! This isn't my first rodeo. I went through it only a year ago with Grace, so I am no rookie. Bring it on.
All our sweet boy wants for his bday is cake. Cake is his new obsession. We had his bday party last Saturday and D was more interested in his cake then his presents.
Today he is going out to breakfast with Grandma Debbie, then I am going to spoil him all day long.

MY SWEET BOY

I look forward to Friday's when Grace has dance class. That is my time with Denny and Denny alone. Just the two of us sharing an hour together. We never do anything too exciting, usually just run some errands. But I love the time and I know he does also. Last Friday him and I went to Burlington's to do some shopping. He sat in the cart and while we were walking around the store he was staring and smiling at me. Every few minutes he would say, "I love you mommy." He is such a sweet little boy. I don't want him to grow up anymore than he already has. He's my baby boy.

Here's an example of his gentle soul. If Archie is on top of Denny, and Denny is screaming for him to get off, the second the dog leaves him alone, D says, "Thank you Archie." If Denny accidenly hurts Grace, he will run up to her, kiss and hug her and say I'm sorry Grace, I love you." He will be the first to notice if someone is upset and he'll be there to offer a hug. This little dude warms my heart.

Keyless in C-town

What do you do when your toddler rips off approximately 10 keys from your new lap top?
We left the room for maybe 1 minute, tops. And I could try for an hour to rip one key off and I'd be unsuccessful.
So what do you do?
Besides the obvious, which to me would be beating that child with the damaged lap top...
What is the responsible, the "good parent" thing to do?

A WHOLE LOT OF EVERYTHING

Sometimes when there is a lot going on, I blog less b/c my mind is in over drive and I can't make much sense of anything when I try to write. But I miss my little bloggie, so with bullets and all, here's what's been happening:
  • Saturday was D's 2nd b/day party. Lots of kids and adults enjoying the beautiful day and celebrating D's life! The batman party was a success, although D was quiet most of the day (in an overwhelmed, why the heck is everyone staring at me kinda way.) I am sure he had fun though.
  • Sunday was mom's day. I slept until 11am. Then napped from 1-3pm. Got some gifties of books, photo albums and picture frames from the little ones. Then headed to my mom's for dinner and drinks.
  • Keep Bob's dad in your thoughts and prayers please. He has been in the hospital since Saturday w/ an irregular heart beat. He should be returning home some time this week. We love you Dad and we are thinking of you.
  • D's 2-year check up was today. Here's his stats: Weight = 30 3/4 lb, Height= 34 3/4. Doc said he's doing great. 70th percentile for everything.
  • Cornhole is back. We played our first game Saturday night. Let me just say that I need some serious practice!
  • Today I set up the pool for the kids and Jess and I sat in the sun. There was a bottle of 45 sunblock on the table where we sat. Do you think either of us put it on? Now we are both lobsters and in some serious pain. At least I remembered to put it on the kids.
  • I quit smoking (again.) This was our gift to D for his b/day.
  • My cousin Chris and his wife Gwen welcomed twin babies into the world!!!

SPIDERMAN

Sunday was a super, spidery special day for D. He got to meet his favorite superhero, Spiderman. We arrived at Macy's shortly after 11, and to our surprise, there wasn't an obnoxiously long line to meet S-man. Denny got on Bob's shoulders and upon his first glimpse of Spidy, he was in awe. My words are a dime a dozen, but these pictures are, well, priceless to this mama. Waiting

First Sight

The meeting

The smile

Now you may wonder how Grace reacted to this. Let's just say she was less than thrilled. She hid behind me and said she wasn't going to talk to Spiderman and all she wanted to know was when we were going to see the Princesses.
The rest of our day was spent outside. The kids playing while I read my book and Bob did yard work. Saturday was much of the same, lots of outside time. The kids playing, Bob working and me just watching everyone. Saturday night my Mom came over so we could go out for a few hours. We went to a new Irish bar called Ofeenies. We met up with my SIL Becky and Pete and a bunch of their friends came out to celebrate Pete's 27th b/day. It was tons of fun but I am paying for it today. It's 8pm and I am still paying for it. When am I going to learn that I can't party like I used to?
This week my plans include the gym EVERYDAY, final prep for D's b/day bash, MUMS group Thursday (thank GOD, I need some inspiration), a Zoo trip and who knows what else.

ABOUT A BOY

Sometimes I feel like Grace dominates my blog stories when I am rambling about the kids. It makes sense, b/c Grace is a very dominating personality. She is at that age where she says the craziest, funniest things. So of course I want to share them with you all. But my boy, my darling boy, well, he needs some blog lovin's also. So today, it's all about Denny.
It is hard to believe that in May, he will be turning 2. He has really developed a personality of his own. His laugh is so darn contagious that I crave it sometimes when he is sleeping. I love going into his room in the middle of the night and staring at his massive body. He is a big boy with a gentle heart, and I am so thankful he is mine.
