So I'm Not The Only One

Thursday morning was MUMS group. After 6 months of going, I finally know what MUMS stands for; Moms Uplifting Moms. Then I wondered where the Dad's go? There are dads who could use some inspiration every month. And what would we call that one? DUDS. Hmm?
Anyway, the topic this month was Mom Rage and how to handle it. Our speaker was a woman named Nicole, and she is a pastors wife with two boys, ages 5 and 2. She spoke about how she struggled with controlling her anger, her rage, around her children. She was so candid and honest, about a topic that most people don't talk about. She stood there in front of 50 or so Moms, and talked about her rage and the effect that it was having on her kids. This is one brave mama. Usually the speaker is given 30 minutes, but Nicole talked for an hour on Thursday. It made me feel much better about myself, b/c I get Mama Rage quite often. I am using her words as inspiration and since Thursday, I have been doing a much better job at controlling it.

In other news, my poor hubby is sick. He's been fighting it for awhile now, but today could no longer take it and went to the docs. He is on the verge of Bronchitis. So the doc gave him some anti-biotics and some strong cough medicine. Hopefully the drugs will kick in and he will be feeling all better.
Friday night we watched "Borat." I must admit that I laughed at lots of his crazy, rude antics. Tonight we are going to try to watch "Stranger Than Fiction," if Bob can keep his eyes open long enough to watch.

Today I finished "Devil Wears Prada" and it was magnificent. I had such a fun time reading it. Another blogger recommended reading Lauren Weisberger's
other novel, "Everyone Worth Knowing." I went to the library and picked it up, and started it tonight. I really can't comment on it yet, as I only made it through the first chapter.
Hope you are all enjoying the weekend. Don't forget to spring ahead tonight!

I liked Stranger Than Fiction, but I wouldn't buy it. Hope he gets better, I get bronchitis a lot. Sucks man.

I think the Dads group would be called DUDS (dads uplifting dads) and that sounds kind of funny! It sounds like a wonderful group though, it is so great to talk to others who might be going through what you go through so you don't feel so alone!

Mama Rage is (to me) the hardest part of the job. B/c you immediately feel like crap after and sometimes the rest of the day. It is nice to know that other people feel that way.

I would have loved to hear that woman speak. I find myself with the Mom Rage quite a bit unfortunately. I was much more calmer when we just had Chloe, but now I have these three creatures that sometimes don't listen, fight, scream and feel like they can do what they want, and it drives me crazy. I try to count to 10 (sometimes 30), take deep breaths and listen to what i am about to say to them, and ask myself how I would feel if i heard those words directed at me. This job is tough, but i know it is the most rewarding one out there. I am glad to know that it isn't just me.

Amanda, I am so glad you started coming to mums with me. I thought our speaker was great. I am glad you love going as much as I do. You just feel great when you leave. Bye the way if anyone says they don't experience mom rage, they are lying!!!!!!!!!!! Love, Tracy

Sounds like a wonderful group. I think there are more people supporting/caring for people than there were when I was a young mom. Good for you girls!!

i was going to write an amazing comment, but then i realized that kara said exactly what i was going to say! have you ever been so crazy rageful that you feel like you're looking down from the ceiling saying, "who is that CRAZY lady and why is she screaming at those little people???" it is so nice to know that i'm not the only one that finds this job the hardest job E VER!
