UPLIFTING

This morning at MUMS I met a woman who can be a true inspiration to all. Her name is Lici. She wasn't the speaker today but she attends MUMS group every month. She's my age and has three children. She was sitting at my table today so I got the chance to chat with her and she told me "her story."

When Lici was giving birth to her third child, the amniotic fluid got into her bloodstream. This is a rare occurance called Amniotic fluid embolism. When this happend it is like poison getting into your blood and it also makes it so your blood will not clot. It is almost always fatal. If it is not, there is a 90% chance that the mom will have neurological damage.

Lici got 82 pints of blood that day.

She died twice on the operating table.

She was in a coma for a week.

When she "came to," nobody (including the nurses and doctors) could believe that she survived and that she was fine. No brain damage, no other problems.

Nurses would come to her hospital room just to touch her because it was a miracle.

Talking with Lici today was something special. This will sound cheesy, but she is so full of life. She has this energy to her that you can feel. SHe is truly thankful to be alive and she is an amazing woman. I am thankful that I was able to meet her today.
If you google her (Lici Hoover) you can find her story and even videos done by local news stations.

TAKIN' TIME TO SMELL THE ROSES

That's what I can do a little bit more of now. MUMS group is back after summer break. Mom's Uplifting other Mom's. My monthly inspiration station that I love and need. Today I went with my gal Tracy and Linda, Mike's sister.
The speaker was a bit dull. I really don't even know what the main point was that we were supposed to take with us. Regardless, it was still an enjoyable morning and I even saw a few mom's there that I know from Grace's dance class.

The weekend is here again. I'm not too excited about this one. Bob has to work all weekend so we have nothing planned. I have to think of something fun to do with the kids, I just don't know what that is yet. Hopefully something will come to mind.

MUMS

Today was the last MUMS group until September. I am seriously bummed out about it, but today Tracy's sis-in-law had a good idea. During the summer, the 3 of us will hold our own MUMS group once a month at each others houses. I love it.
For some reason today was super emotional. During the final prayer, I started crying and couldn't stop. Then when I was walking back to the day care with Tracy and Linda, I mentioned that I finally had a dream about Mike the other night (this is the first time he's been in my dreams since he passed.) That got the water works going for all 3 of us. Then I am feeling like an ass b/c I am being consoled by Mike's wife and sister. I don't know, it's been almost 6 months since he has passed, and the pain of his passing is not going away. How could something that happened last November still not feel real?
I can't even really tell you what the speaker today talked about. I was in my own little world and couldn't focus on her. I just want Tracy and the kids to be okay. I want Mike's sister and brother to find peace. I want my heart to stop feeling so heavy, but I never ever want to forget what a wonderful person he was.

So I'm Not The Only One

Thursday morning was MUMS group. After 6 months of going, I finally know what MUMS stands for; Moms Uplifting Moms. Then I wondered where the Dad's go? There are dads who could use some inspiration every month. And what would we call that one? DUDS. Hmm?
Anyway, the topic this month was Mom Rage and how to handle it. Our speaker was a woman named Nicole, and she is a pastors wife with two boys, ages 5 and 2. She spoke about how she struggled with controlling her anger, her rage, around her children. She was so candid and honest, about a topic that most people don't talk about. She stood there in front of 50 or so Moms, and talked about her rage and the effect that it was having on her kids. This is one brave mama. Usually the speaker is given 30 minutes, but Nicole talked for an hour on Thursday. It made me feel much better about myself, b/c I get Mama Rage quite often. I am using her words as inspiration and since Thursday, I have been doing a much better job at controlling it.

In other news, my poor hubby is sick. He's been fighting it for awhile now, but today could no longer take it and went to the docs. He is on the verge of Bronchitis. So the doc gave him some anti-biotics and some strong cough medicine. Hopefully the drugs will kick in and he will be feeling all better.
Friday night we watched "Borat." I must admit that I laughed at lots of his crazy, rude antics. Tonight we are going to try to watch "Stranger Than Fiction," if Bob can keep his eyes open long enough to watch.

Today I finished "Devil Wears Prada" and it was magnificent. I had such a fun time reading it. Another blogger recommended reading Lauren Weisberger's
other novel, "Everyone Worth Knowing." I went to the library and picked it up, and started it tonight. I really can't comment on it yet, as I only made it through the first chapter.
Hope you are all enjoying the weekend. Don't forget to spring ahead tonight!
