SELF PORTRAIT CHALLENGE ~ FRESH

This month's SPC is Fresh.

For me, Spring is the "freshest" of all the months. So many ideas come to mind when I think of Spring. In the photo below, I am enjoying the fresh air of the great outdoors. Feels great after months stuck inside the house.

SELP PORTRAIT CHALLENGE

Above is a manga cartoon. This week I used an on-line tool and turned my portrait into one. Manga cartoons are the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons. Here is my self portrait.

Self Portrait Challenge

Self portrait Tuesday is here again. The theme for this months SPC is online tools. They listed 16 different web pages that allow you to do different things with your photos. I chose the Hockneyizer tool for this week. If I had more time, I would really get into this. There is so much you can do and it is so much fun.

SPC: Black & White Bubbles

The only thing I enjoy about winter is steamy, hot bubble baths. I take at least one a day, usually after the kids go to bed. Sometimes I even sneak one in during the afternoon while the kids are napping. It's my time and I love it.

Self Portrait Challange: Black & White

This months SPC theme is Black and White. I focused this week on remembrance.
This is a photo of my father and I. Last month marked 4 years since he passed. This month, if he were still with us, he would be celebrating his 64th birthday. My dad, he was a good guy and I know he is smiling down on me and the kids every day!

SPC ~ Red Relaxation

I love this blanket. I don't know where or when we got it, but I do know it is soft as can be. When I have a few minutes to myself, this is where you will find me. Under my red blanky.

Self Portrait Challenge: RED

Here is this months SPC:
RED: What better way to finish off the year than with a cheer. And red is the perfect colour for it.
Red is a colour charged with emotion - fierce and stongly felt emotion. Extreme feelings, hot tempers, blood and violence. Red is the colour of radical barbaric deeds, and of love and passion. Red expresses energy and fire and excitement and exhaustion. Red is excessive and rich and hot and sexual and exciting. Red is fun and fruity and luscious and sexy. Red is the colour of desire, of anger and of power.
So Red - go forth and show us what you have - have a little fun - its the holiday season after all.

I was super excited when I saw this challenge. Red is one of my favorite colors, therefore I have lots of red things and many ideas floating in my head for this challenge. I was so excited that I went to take some pictures on Monday afternoon. This student was going to do the assignment early.

So enough with the writing, the anticipation, you want to see what I have don't you? Well I hope you love this red font because that's all your gonna get. My camera, my dear camera, the one I never leave home with out, the one that is always ready to snap some pictures, capture some memories............is broke. I am sick to my stomach over this. I have been trying to fix it for the past 24 hours, and nothing is working. I am a lost soul without it. I'm not trying to be dramatic either, this is serious stuff. So you will be getting some old pics on here until I get this fixed. (And my scanner is acting goofy too..what is going on?)

SELF PORTRAIT CHALLENGE: GLAMOUR

This month's Self Portrait Challenge is GLAM. Much lighter and much more fun than last month's imperfections.
I am a lip stick junkie. Love the stuff, and I rarely leave home without it. I'm the rude girl re-applying at the dinner table. I'm the friend who will borrow your glossy goodness twenty times in one night. I can't stop...it's an addiction.
Usually I wear simple, light shades; neutrals or maybe a pink color. I've been wearing the same colors for years now. Boring!!
So at the store the other day, I saw this red color by Jane. #19 - Superstar. I had to have it. And I feel glamorous baby when I wear it.

Self Portrait Challenge: Imperfection

So I went over to the Self Portrait Challenge page this morning to see what the current challenge was. And here is what I read:
Look beyond the surface of your life, dig into your imperfect self and reveal it to us. I want to see the down and dirty you, the messy, gross and ugly you, the side of yourself that you always try to hide, give us some insight into your dreadful secrets. This can be your physical self or your personal space or within your wider life. Be not afraid!

Yikes. My first challenge and I will admit, I am afraid. Who wants to post and blog about imperfections. I was not going to do it, then I remembered a week ago today, I vowed to start. So here it is. Smoking. My imperfection.
Obviously I am aware that smoking is harmful to my health. I know what it can do to my body, I know it makes me stink, I know it is expensive and there are other things I should be doing with my money. I know it is the most disgusting habit in the world. I WANT TO QUIT. I have tried to quit many times. Only twice have I been successful, and that was during each of my pregnancies. I NEVER smoke in my house or anywhere near my children.
On a positive note, there is a date this month that Bob and I have designated as our day to stop. This will be it. We have promised to one another and promised that if for nothing else, we are quitting for our children. We want to be around for them for a very long time. How selfish are we that we can't quit for them? So I'm not going to share the date, but I will share a success story very soon.
