UPLIFTING

This morning at MUMS I met a woman who can be a true inspiration to all. Her name is Lici. She wasn't the speaker today but she attends MUMS group every month. She's my age and has three children. She was sitting at my table today so I got the chance to chat with her and she told me "her story."

When Lici was giving birth to her third child, the amniotic fluid got into her bloodstream. This is a rare occurance called Amniotic fluid embolism. When this happend it is like poison getting into your blood and it also makes it so your blood will not clot. It is almost always fatal. If it is not, there is a 90% chance that the mom will have neurological damage.

Lici got 82 pints of blood that day.

She died twice on the operating table.

She was in a coma for a week.

When she "came to," nobody (including the nurses and doctors) could believe that she survived and that she was fine. No brain damage, no other problems.

Nurses would come to her hospital room just to touch her because it was a miracle.

Talking with Lici today was something special. This will sound cheesy, but she is so full of life. She has this energy to her that you can feel. SHe is truly thankful to be alive and she is an amazing woman. I am thankful that I was able to meet her today.
If you google her (Lici Hoover) you can find her story and even videos done by local news stations.

Wow, that really is uplifting. And amazing. Good for Lici for using her experience as a reason to appreciate life as much as we all ought to but often don't.

Isn't it amazing how we feel stuck in a spot, we suddenly meet someone that brings us back out of whatever we were in. Lici sounds like she was just what you needed. What an amazing story.
