DON'T WANNA GROW UP~

The kids are in the kitchen playing with play-dough and Bob and I are playing Cornhole on the Wii.  Play-dough is a special treat for when Mommy and Daddy want to be left alone for a good hour.
Grace and Denny have the best conversations with each other when they think that we aren't listening.  Here is what I just heard:

G:  Yeah Denny, pretty soon I am going to be five!
D:  Yeah, me too.  Tomorrow I am gonna be five!
G: No Den, I am going to turn five, you are going to turn four.
D:  Oh, yeah.
G:  Then after five, I will be six.  That's just how it goes.  I will be six!!  Oh my goodness Dennis, I don't want to turn six, I don't want to be an adult!  What am I going to do Denny, I really don't want to be an adult!

LAZY LORD~

Some mornings Grace gets up with Bob before he leaves for work.
The other day, Grace said to him, "Daddy, I think Jesus is lazy."
Bob asked her why in the world she would think such a thing.

Grace responds with, "Because  it's morning and he hasn't even
put the sun out yet."

Maybe I do need to enroll her into a Catholic school next year :)

ANOTHER EXAMPLE WHY I SHOULD BE NOMINATED FOR MOM OF THE YEAR~

Denny spent last Wednesday morning at my Mom's while I worked at Grace's school.
When I walked into my Mom's to pick Denny up, she pulled my into the corner with a shit eating grin on her face.
What's up I asked?

Apparently while Denny was with my Mom, the word "hate" came up.  Denny then said that it's a bad word, so no one should ever say it.

Instead of leaving it there, my Mom had to ask my 3-year-old son what are some other bad words?

Darling little dude said, "Stupid, Mean, Hate & Fuck it."

IF WISHES CAME TRUE~

Saturday night Bob took Grace to a birthday party and I hung out with the boy.

My Dad's ashes are in an urn sitting in our living room.
Neither of my kids ever had the chance to meet my Dad, so they only know him through stories, photos and "the urn."
Denny went over to the urn and kissed it and said I love you Grandpa Dennis.  Then he looked at me and said "Mom, I really want him to come out of there."

Me too bud, me too.

SWEETNESS~

Can anything be any sweeter than a 4-year-old telling you that thoughts of her family make her "heart warm and tummy tickle."
I am so blessed.

I'M FEELING HOT, HOT, HOT

Monday was hot. Gross, setting records kind of hot. We've been outside with the kids non-stop for the past week or so. Monday, I needed a day inside with the A/C cranked. With that being said~

Grace and Denny were playing house. Grace was the mommy and Denny was the mommy too. Yes, D was a mama. You see, whatever Grace does or is, Denny has to do the same. So when Grace calmly tried to explain to Den that he was a boy so he was the Daddy, he wasn't having it. She tried to argue it out for a few minutes, but once she realized he wasn't budging, there was two Mama's. That made me happy b/c hopefully when the kids are older and in school, they will actually have friends who have two moms or two dad's.

Anyway, they were playing house for a good 30 minutes in Grace's room. I wanted to sit and observe so I laid on G's bed and told them to pretend I wasn't there. However, all you parents know that doesn't work as planned. MOM! is in the room or DAD! is in the room and you become part of the game. While G&D were being married and taking care of their "so many" kids, G&D started fighting over something. I tried to explain in 4-year-old language about marriage and compromise. Grace totally got it! She handed over Denny the object they were fighting over and calmly told me in her low voice that Denny was annoying her but she still loved him.

Then she got right in my face and whispered...."You know how it is Mom. Husbands can be soooo annoying."

TOGETHER WE REQUEST THE HONOR OF YOUR PRESENSE

I was at Target the other day without the kids. When I shop without children, I like to take time and browse the greeting cards. I don't know if you have ever tried looking at cards with kids in tow, but it is always a disaster.
While I was checking out some cards, there was a woman next to me who was bitching to her friend that she has 2 weddings coming up this summer. The girl (who looked about my age) was bitching and moaning about how much she hates attending weddings. I spent 15 minutes fake reading cards just so I could listen to her rant. Now this isn't the first time I have heard someone hate on weddings.
I don't know about you, but I love going to weddings/receptions. We have 4 this Summer and I am totally looking forward to them. I understand they can get expensive, but so is any night out. I look at a wedding as a big as party to celebrate love. It's a time to see old friends, get dressed up, drink way too much and dance. Weddings are the only time my hubby gets on the dance floor. Almost every wedding we've been too, the night ends with doing the worm and gator. What could be better than that my friends?
